Transportation to Airport from Algiers City Center

Houari Boumediene Airport

It is possible to reach Houari Boumediene International Airport from the city center by taking the advantage of bus or metro line. If you prefer a more relaxing and fast journey, you can take a taxi or rent a car.

Taxi

You can easily find a taxi at every corner of the city center. For safety reasons, it is better to take a taxi from taxi stands or you can also ask your hotel to arrange a taxi for you. You should keep in mind that most of the taxi do not activate the taximeter even if taximeter is available in all taxis. Therefore, it would be a good idea to bargain with the driver about taxi fare in advance. You can reach the airport in about 50 minutes by taxi from the city center and the taxi ride costs about 600 dinars.

Bus

If you prefer to travel by public transportation, you can reach the airport by taking a bus from the city center. The buses to the airport depart every 30 minutes and the bus ride takes about one hour. Ticket price is 20 dinars per passenger.

Metro

Although there is only one subway line in Algeria, it is possible to reach the airport by taking the advantage of this line. Metro ticket is more expensive than the bus ticket. You need to pay 50 dinars for the one-way ticket.

Rent a car

There are offices of many local and international car rental companies in the city center. Your hotel can also help you with this. If you don't have an international driver's license, you can rent a car with a driver. Renting a car for the entire trip is an attractive option since oil prices are quite affordable in Algeria.

Airport Information

Publicly known as Algiers International Airport, Houari Boumediene International Airport is located 20 kilometers southeast of Algeria. The airport serves its passengers with two terminal buildings, one for domestic flights and one for international flights.

In addition to restaurants and cafés, there are various services such as pharmacy, bookstore, hairdresser, currency exchange office and ATM at the airport. There a lounge available for passengers who don't want to sacrifice their comfort while waiting for their flight. If you need to do shopping, you can visit the duty-free store and souvenir shops. Despite all, there is no wi-fi internet access throughout the airport.

Taxis are available 24/7 at the arrivals area of King Khalid International Airport. They are usually metered, but confirming the fare with the driver beforehand is recommended. Ride-hailing apps like Uber and Careem offer alternative options to taxis with designated ride-hailing pick-up zones near terminals.

Bus Services

Public buses connect the airport to various parts of Riyadh, including the city center. They typically operate during daytime hours, but schedules and routes should be confirmed at the airport information desk. Look for clearly marked bus stops at the arrivals area.

Metro

Riyadh metro system consists of six lines, connecting 85 stations. Line 4, or also known as the Yellow Line, runs from King Khalid International Airport to the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD). Passengers opting for public transportation can use the metro, as it is available at the airport exits, and tickets can be obtained from machines at the station.

Rental Cars

Car rental agencies at the airport allow travelers to drive themselves to the city center. Ensure you have a valid international license and insurance. Parking is available at most hotels and key locations in Riyadh.

Many hotels in Riyadh provide shuttle services to and from the airport. Contact your hotel in advance to confirm pick-up arrangements and locations. These services are especially useful for first-time visitors.
