About Saudi Arabia

Located on the Arabian Peninsula, Saudi Arabia shares borders with several countries: Jordan to the northwest, Iraq to the north and northeast, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has shores to the Persian Gulf to the northeast and the Red Sea to the west. The holy cities of Islam, Mecca, and Madinah, are located within this country.
In Madinah, you can see some of the most significant treasures of Islam. Mecca, like Madinah, is situated in the Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia. The capital is Riyadh, located in the central part of the Arabian Peninsula, surrounded by deserts and modern skyscrapers.
Jeddah is the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia and one of the biggest cities in the Arabian Peninsula. Other significant cities in Saudi Arabia include Taif, Dammam, Dhahran, and Buraydah. The majority of the population in Saudi Arabia resides in large cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Mecca, Taif, Medina, and Dhahran.
While deserts cover much of Saudi Arabia, other regions have sparse population densities. Saudi Arabia's population mainly consists of Arabs, most of whom are of native tribal descent. Along the coast of the Arabian Gulf, there is also a minority Iranian community. You can find South Asians, Uighurs, and Huilas living in the country.
The official language of Saudi Arabia is Arabic, and almost all of the population practices Islam. As the largest country in the Arabian Peninsula, Saudi Arabia is known for its lush date palms and palm trees. The country's average temperature ranges between 25 to 47 degrees Celsius. Visitors to the country during the summer months are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during midday. It is advised to wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from linen or cotton.
Saudi Arabia's economy primarily relies on revenue from petroleum products. For many years, the country has profited from visitors performing the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage, as Mecca and Medina are essential religious sites for Muslims. It continues to be a significant source of income.
The country also boosts its economy through the export of dates. Saudi Arabia's petroleum reserves, discovered in 1936, have allowed the nation to prosper. The petroleum, petrochemical industry, and artificial fertilizer production, among other industries, are continually advancing through the implementation of new technologies.
Industries like iron and steel, cement, and food have also experienced rapid growth. Although agriculture is not widely practiced due to the arid landscape, efforts to reduce food imports and encourage domestic agriculture have been initiated. The government supports the development of agriculture and fisheries along the coasts of the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.
Considering Saudi Arabian cuisine and food culture, spices are used abundantly in the dishes. The cuisine primarily features dishes prepared with rice, chicken, camel meat, grapes, and various spices. The most renowned dish is "Kabsah" (kebse), a savory dish made from saffron-infused long-grain rice and lamb.
Saudi Arabia's weekend falls on Thursday and Friday, with banks and government institutions aligning their working hours accordingly. Banks, government agencies, and stores operate from Saturday to Wednesday.
The official currency of Saudi Arabia is the Saudi Riyal. Saudi Arabia is most commonly visited by those intending to perform Hajj and Umrah, as it encompasses the holy sites.
